Al Ferrand
Al Ferrand Al’s introduction into fine art began under the tutelage of his wife, Jean; a recognized sculptor and patron of the arts. Studying the techniques of the Masters and renowned local artists, he has gleaned from them what was needed to pursue his own charted course.
Painter:
Al enjoys painting landscapes on location and recently returned from painting and photographing winter scenes at Yosemite National Park. His paintings have won awards in Nevada, California and Colorado. Truckee River scenes are his favorite as he has completed a series of 15 paintings. His paintings are rendered in watercolor, oil, acrylic and pastel.
Sculptor:
Studying with renown sculptors Charles Ellis, Claude Haulse and Tom Anderson ignited the quest in creating fine art. Sculptors admired most are Auguste Rodin and Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
Woodcarver:
Began woodcarving under the direction of master carvers Yin Li and Gary Perkins of Southern California. His carvings have taken awards in several competitions sanctioned by the California Woodcarvers Guild and the El Dorado Hotel Miniature Gallery of Colorado Springs, Co.
Community Involvement:
Al is a supporter of VSA arts of Nevada and has assisted in their fund raising projects. He is an active member of Latimer Art Club, Sierra Watercolor Society and Nevada Artists Association.
